Record numbers sign-up for the second South West Charity Conference in Bath

Gill FreemanLaunched in 2019, the inaugural charity conference was a huge success and received excellent feedback from the 100 charities and Not for Profit organisations that attended. This year, the sponsors and organisers – Milsted Langdon, Stone King, Fidelius and The Business exchange, were hoping to double that number, but have hit record interest with over 300 people registering to attend.

The conference aims to bring together people in charity and not for profit organisations for a day of learning and networking in a supportive environment. The event will connect businesses with the third sector, allowing them to make new contacts, share best practice and go for growth.

Held at Bath Racecourse on Thursday 6 February, the day will begin with a networking breakfast at 7:30am, followed by the first guest speaker from Dorothy House Hospice Care, who will be discussing diversity in the third sector with Gill Freeman, Milsted Langdon’s Partner and Head of Charity and Not for Profit.

This will be followed by a series of talks from a range of speakers, including

Gill, who will host a seminar entitled ‘Finance FAQs – The Hot Topics for Charity & Not for Profits’. She will explore the latest news when it comes to opportunities and challenges for charities and not for profit organisations.

The session will include a Q&A opportunity to discuss any burning finance and accountancy-related questions or issues affecting organisations and to share experiences and best practice in a safe environment with supportive and like-minded peers in the third sector.

The talks will run alongside The Expo, which opens at 9am. This will allow charities to showcase their work and latest appeals, while companies can demonstrate their third sector specialisms.

Looking ahead to the event, Gill said: “We were blown away by the response we got in the first year. My charity clients that attended found the event to be a most valuable and productive few hours away from their day-to-day work and a look at the wider picture of the sector, as well as a chance meet some useful new contacts. We are delighted to be sponsoring the conference once again.

“It was wonderful to meet so many businesses and organisations last year and I hope to share more knowledge with those attending this year, in particular, helping them with the latest challenges that they face.”
