Simon has been a Partner at Milsted Langdon since 2008 and the breadth and depth of his expertise covers many areas, from insolvency and business recovery to specialist advice for the Cannabidiol (CBD) sector.
Simon originally trained as a licensed Insolvency Practitioner and has gained extensive experience dealing with all aspects of insolvency and business recovery.
Whilst he continues to deal with insolvency matters, having spent many years dealing with businesses facing financial challenges, he now uses the experience gained to help clients in a wide range of circumstances, assisting when decisions need to be made and then helping to ensure those decisions are implemented.
Assignments can range from working on strategic acquisitions alongside our Corporate Finance Team to advising a business that finds itself without any management due to illness or death.
He leads the firm’s dedicated intervention team, helping businesses that have stumbled upon difficult times – this may be a board or shareholder deadlock or dispute or a key officer being incapacitated and needing to be replaced on an interim basis.
Simon also works with some of our high-growth clients, providing advice on strategic development and how to manage growth sustainably, as well as looking at ways to improve existing successful enterprises that wish to adapt and change.
Due to Simon’s focus on high-growth businesses he has developed specialist knowledge of the Cannabidiol (CBD) sector. In recent years the cannabis industry has grown rapidly in the US and although the UK has not taken the step to legalise cannabis, there is a long history of hemp farming in the UK and a growing market in cannabinoid and derivative products in the health and wellness sector.
Milsted Langdon is a forward-thinking and progressive firm and Simon has been an early advocate of the CBD business community. As the legalisation of medicinal cannabis and CBD products develops across Europe, Simon is working closely with businesses in the industry, looking at the regulatory environment and advising on commercial matters.
Simon has worked with many of our clients who are looking to expand their reach overseas as well as international businesses looking to establish themselves here in the UK. His experience and knowledge of working with our colleagues in the wider MGI network makes him an invaluable resource for any business looking to widen their geographical reach, especially in these more uncertain times.
Simon has over 20 years’ experience in the insolvency industry working with all sizes of business across numerous sectors. He is passionate about finding the right solution for the financial problems faced, whether business or personal, and ensuring that the best outcome, in the circumstances, is achieved.
