Rachael began her career in 1993, as an accounts and audit trainee at a small firm in Clifton, Bristol. She has gone on to specialise in advisory work, focusing mainly on private client and entrepreneur tax planning.
She joined Milsted Langdon in 2014 from a role as associate director at top five accountancy firm Grant Thornton, where she led the private client tax teams of the Bristol and Cardiff offices, with a focus on winning new advisory work.
Rachael has particular expertise in working with high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals and with non-UK domiciled and/or non-UK resident clients, with a focus on inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning.
Other issues in which she specialises are trusts, tax planning for company sales and Enterprise Investment Scheme investments.
A key feature of the way Rachael works is to spend time with clients, getting to know them and gathering as much information as possible, in order to fully understand what they wish to achieve and their views on the various issues involved.
This enables her to develop bespoke solutions that will help clients achieve their goals while also maximising tax efficiency. Timing of important conversations around issues such as a company sale or other transaction is crucial, to allow plenty of time for pre-planning to take place.
In her work, Rachael enjoys the opportunity to meet new clients and the technical challenges involved in tax planning.
