Carl is tax partner based in our Bristol office and joined Milsted Langdon following the merger with Houghton Stone in March 2018.
As a family man, he understands the difference good tax advice can make in minimising your taxes and maximising your income – an essential part of helping you and your family reach all of your short, medium and long term goals.
Carl’s flexibility, adaptability and interpersonal skills gained throughout his years in the customer services industry have been a key part of his success, as he puts it himself: “The secret to providing excellent tax advice is building up a good relationship with your client. Unsurprisingly, the more you know about your client and the more you talk with them, the more tax planning opportunities arise.”
During his time at Houghton Stone, Carl excelled on their graduate programme and became a full partner within 6 years, gaining a wealth of knowledge and further qualifications along the way – including the Institute of Taxation and the Association of Taxation Technicians. Carl also has significant experience in the property industry, managing a property portfolio in excess of 150 properties. He was the subsequent driving force behind the creation and success of several Bath based businesses, which continue to flourish today.
In his spare time, Carl is an established freelance writer of taxation and financial articles and reports. These are published and used by hundreds of clients and accountants across the UK. In addition, one of Carl’s most significant achievements was being named by TaxJournal as one of the brightest young tax professionals in the country.
