Milsted Langdon partner shares expertise with North American accountants

A partner at South West-based chartered accountancy firm Milsted Langdon was invited to share her international tax expertise with her North American counterparts at a major industry conference in New York.

Elaine Durrant, a tax partner at the firm, was a guest speaker at global business network MGI’s recent North American conference, held at the InterContinental Hotel, in Times Square.

As head of Milsted Langdon’s specialist international tax team, Elaine was well placed to speak on the subject, focusing on how to avoid the common pitfalls facing people when making investments in countries with different tax regimes, in particular the USA.

Elaine was also able to attend MGI’s global conference, which took place at the same venue immediately after the North American event, as a delegate alongside fellow MGI members from across the world.

She said: “I was delighted to be invited by MGI to address its New York conference on the subject of international tax. Although I regularly speak on the topic back home, it was the first time I’ve done so on the other side of the world.

“My presentation was very well received and the feedback has been excellent. The event also provided a fantastic opportunity to build contacts with accountants from all over the world, as well as taking queries on behalf of other members of our international tax team who have expertise in a particular area.”
