Milsted Langdon accountants undertake taxing challenge
Accountants from Bristol-based Milsted Langdon have been taxing their brains with a series of challenges around the city centre as part of a fund-raising event.
The four-strong team, consisting of partner Roger Isaacs, managers Matt Hastings and Andy Freeman, and audit senior Craig Morris, took part in the Monopoly Challenge, organised by trainees at Bristol law firm Clarke Willmott, on 4 August 2011.
The event, which was in aid of the Prince’s Trust, saw around 20 teams following a ‘Monopoly board’ around the city centre, stopping at four different pubs along the way to undertake a challenge in each, with four further tasks between each venue.
The event started with a Blue Peter-style challenge at Clarke Willmott’s offices, in Georges Square, where each team had to make a hat from scrap materials which then had to be worn throughout the evening.
Once this task was completed, each team set off into the city centre for the remaining challenges, which included building a house from Lego, a general knowledge quiz, juggling and matching famous faces with their country of origin on a map.
Challenges between venues included being photographed with someone in uniform – which in Milsted Langdon’s case was a traffic warden – and with one of the numerous gorilla sculptures currently on display around Bristol as part of the city zoo’s 175th birthday celebrations, as well as identifying places from pictorial clues and collecting items in a treasure hunt-style challenge.
Commenting on the evening, Matt Hastings said: “These challenges included collecting a takeaway menu and something beginning with ‘M’, so we decided to kill two birds with one stone by going into an Indian takeaway and getting a menu and a tub of mango chutney. However, when we got back to base, we discovered that the winning team had somehow managed to procure a ‘mankini’!
“Although we didn’t win, it was still a highly enjoyable evening, giving us an opportunity to experience our city in a different way while also doing our bit for a worthy cause.”
