Three Promotions At Milsted Langdon
South West chartered accountancy firm Milsted Langdon has promoted three members of the team at its Yeovil office to assistant manager status.
Mel Prové, Gareth Lewis and Adrian Farrell all took up their new positions this month, which involve them taking up a greater role in managing the firms’ clients and supervising other members of staff.
Mel started her career in 2001 at local firm Walon Limited as an assistant accountant, then moved to Jean Davenport Accountants as a semi-senior account clerk in 2003, when she also qualified with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).
She moved to Milsted Langdon in 2007 as an accounts senior, progressing to supervisor in the general practice department in May 2009.
Gareth initially worked as a personal tax advisor with Richardson Groves Accountants in Bath from 2001, qualifying with both the AAT and Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT). In 2005, he moved to the corporate tax department and began to specialise in that area, then in 2007 he joined Deloitte as an assistant corporate tax manager.
He joined Milsted Langdon as a tax senior in 2009, where he is part of the international tax team, specialising in advising on cross-border tax issues and international tax planning, as well as advising on domestic corporate tax and overseeing a small portfolio of high net worth individuals.
Adrian joined Milsted Langdon in 2004 after completing an Accounting and Finance degree at Lancaster University. He completed his Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) professional exams in 2006 and became fully-qualified in 2007 after completing three years’ experience.
He has worked in a number of areas of the firm, but specialises in corporations and audits. He was promoted to supervisor in 2009 and moved from Milsted Langdon’s Taunton office to the Yeovil office this summer. He takes part in a number of community activities for the firm, attending specialist business events for GCSE students and acting as a mentor for college students.
Partner Gary Salter said: “Gaining promotion to this level is all about demonstrating commitment to the firm, achieving a certain level of technical competence, having the interpersonal skills to be able to deal with clients directly and manage staff, and starting to develop the organisational skills and commercial awareness that is needed to run a portfolio of clients.
“All of the partners are delighted that Mel, Gareth and Adrian have reached the required standards and we look forward to them playing a significant role in the company’s future success.”
