Accountant Gains Forensic Accreditation
A partner at Milsted Langdon chartered accountants has become one of the first people in the country to receive a new accreditation for forensic accountants.
Roger Isaacs, who works at the firm’s Bristol office, recently received his Forensic Accountant Accreditation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Forensic accounting is a specialised area of accountancy concerned with the provision of expert evidence in civil or criminal litigation – such as divorce, personal injury or fraud cases – and which can involve cross-examination in court.
Having been a forensic accountant for many years, Roger applied for the new accreditation when it was introduced, which involved completing an examination testing his knowledge of forensic accountancy, as well as submitting information about his practical experience.
The ICAEW has introduced the qualification in an effort to help instructing solicitors have confidence that their forensic accountants have adequate skills and experience, as well as providing a register of such accountants, making it easier for them to find those with the most relevant expertise.
Roger said: “I am delighted to have received this accreditation, which confirms the knowledge and expertise I have built up during many years in the sector.
“It is important that solicitors feel confident that their accountant has the appropriate knowledge and expertise and has practical experience of giving evidence to the court in a persuasive and clear manner. This new accreditation is an important way of ensuring this in the field of forensic accountancy.”
